Bye, Bye, Bye

I was never really a big fan of the backstreet boys, but in retrospect I have learned to appreciate a few of their songs. Or maybe just the title....

Monday marks the end, or at least a turning point. Jeanne (my boss) is starting to look for a new sap to mark time at the front desk! I know, I know... I am stoked! They have decided to move me into the internet department full time. (I am still hoping to someday move into my field, but baby steps...) I am not entirely sure what my duties will be, but I do know it means: I can wear jeans every day, I don't have to sit by myself, and I can leave my desk without calling someone to watch the phone.

I have learned a few things in my time there though:

1. Your attitude is the most important job skill. I feel like I am over qualified for what I have been doing, but for a portion of my time, I think I was a terrible employee because I had a bad attitude.
2. Sometimes only the Lord can soften your heart. During the afore mentioned time, I did try to change my attitude. Several times. I couldn't do it, I need the Lord's help. I needed the Atonement.
3. There is a good in everyone. When I first started working at Ken Garff, I was pretty shocked. I had anticipated a different dynamic-working in happy valley and all... but there is good in everyone. No matter who you are working with, you have the choice to be friendly, and see the best. Talking about other people will always be toxic.
4. Build relationships. I think I knew this before, but I was reminded of this. It is all about relationships. I don't know much more now than I did nine months ago when I started work at Ken Garff, but I do a lot more (and enjoy work a lot more), more people count on me than did before--because of those relationships.
5. The Lord always knows what it is best. I am still trying to figure this part of my life out. (If you have suggestions let me know.) I know that the Lord knows though, He is preparing the way-and preparing me for something much greater than Ken Garff Ford in American Fork.

It's a GREAT day at Ken Garff Ford in American Fork, this is Lori, how may I direct your call?
