Redesign...

Uh, the first ones didn't print out quite how I wanted them. I redesigned. What do you think?

Spring Observations

1) This is the point of the semester that rocks are appearing on fingers and couples are dotting the hallways (a serious disadvantage to interior corridors). Sometimes people assume that only the single people notice this because we are feeling left out or lonely or whatever. No. We notice because we can still see clearly!

2) EVERYONE seems to complain about the weather! And they all seem legitimately confused as to why it was sunny yesterday and why it is snowing today. 1) it's spring 2) it's march 3) it's idaho! Even the people that have lived here their whole lives seem to have issues with this concept. In the spring the weather is unpredictable, it is windy and it isn't the same all day long.

3) I have serious spring fever! coupled with my senioritis I am having quite the struggle with motivation.

Jared always says, "if in the spring your thoughts turn to love, you have wasted the winter."

Bear Lake

Some of my favorite people in the world live in Bear Lake Idaho. Kaulene is on her mission right now in Niagara Falls (CANADA) and Puff is headed to Spain in a week. I went down to Bear Lake on Sunday for Puff's farewell. She did a good job--I am going to miss her. It was fun to see some friends that I haven't seen in a while. AND>>> I got to touch Will's bum. I know Mom doesn't want me to touch knees. I know she wouldn't like the bum touching, but it is more of a bonding ritual ;)
The picture is fuzzy cause we had to go down a darkly lit hallway so Puff's dad (the perpetual stake president) wouldn't see ;)

Oh and despite what it looks like, I am not pregnant. I think I must be retaining water... ahhh dang. I guess I better hit the gym.

You're Our Next Winner

I went to the bookstore to do an errand for my boss. I figured while I was there I should pick up my cap and gown at Grad Fest. I saw my first (and favorite) bishop up here sitting at the table. As I walked in he asked me if I was walking. I responded yes and then he announced that I was the next winner!! Woot Woot! So I stood there and a nice lady gave me a BYUI t-shirt. Then (not as a winner, just as a graduate) I got a license plate cover, some chocolate, a bag of popcorn and my cap and gown! They say one size fits all on the cap. But that is a lie! It doesn't really fit. I had the same problem with the mouse ears from Disneyland ;(

my kind of party

I am an interior design major--but not a craft major. People usually think that they are synonymous, its not true! I spent most of yesterday evening making centerpieces! I know weird huh? While I have put together my fair share of wedding centerpieces, its not something I think is necessary. (That along with my general disdain for handouts typically disqualify me for major positions in both Young Women's and Relief Society)
I am the Enrichment leader and we do combined Enrichment, so the other Relief Society was in charge of food this time and I got decorations. Keep in mind I am the one that plans on using whatever is the wedding closet/room for my reception centerpieces. I think I planned a pretty good one though. It is the RS Birthday party so we are using gift wrapped boxes and filling them with M&M's--edible centerpieces, the only way to go!

Pretty much the highlight of the experience was when I was wrapping the boxes and their lids in separate colors Kelli asked me if I was making handouts. I laughed at her and she asked "centerpieces?" when I nodded she burst out into laughter. Actually the highlight was buying $50 worth of candy...

Phlebotomy

SO, I often speak in letter format, and while giving blood I heard myself constructing a letter that sounded mysteriously like Josh's open letter rants.

Dear Nona,

Hi, I can see your name is Nona, although you never introduced yourself. You see I am the girl in the chair on your left. I am the one with the needle in my arm. I understand that your home country is interesting, and this young man wants to talk to you about it. I can appreciate that--so I waited patiently for 25 minutes to get to this point. I watched sadly as those that came after me were pumping away, but I waited. I did get a little nervous when your sanitation effort to wipe my arm with an alcohol wipe was done while you were looking at the young man. After he was completely finished: I knew my chance had come. Then I still had to wait for a few minutes. My patience was waning.

Finally you asked me yet again if I was allergic to iodine. I am not. You drew all over my arm, scribbled even. I squeezed. You swabbed. You stabbed. I spouted. Yes, yes I did, all up my arm and on my shirt. That doesn't normally happen. Maybe it was the prolonged period that my circulation was being cut off prior to to stab. You wiped the blood from the cuff and asked if I was okay. I laughed. As you were turning to the new young man-the more attractive of the two I knew I was doomed. I told you that you needed to readjust the needle. I have done this many times-I can tell. You kept readjusting and the needle started to vibrate. Finally I got to squeeze, and you were again lost to me.

Oh by the way you are much too old for these college boys.

Finally you stopped the blood flow. Only to turn yet again to the young man. AHHH!

Hi, Nona like I said, I am the one with the needle in my arm. You are killing me! Oh whew! It is finally my turn. Yes, a blue bandage is fine. Could you give me a new piece of gauze? Oh don't be so grossed out. Give me my paper--I would like to be on my way. I would like to go back to work. Yes I will take the only thing left on the table: oatmeal raisin, you know the chocolate chip cookies are all gone probably given to the kids that came in after me.

Thanks so much, it was a pleasure to be here. Well not really, but I give this blood freely because it was given to me. Drive safely.

Love Lori Jane

P.S And I know that you forgot, but my blood is all over your cuff--and the next person doesn't want it.

Top 10--but not in order

I love my life! The past 24 hours have had so many things that make me happy I just think I should share:

1. It was sunny outside yesterday. It was down right warm! And I am in Idaho.

2. A girl in my clogging class totally helped me out--and didn't make me feel like an idiot in the process. (Last week after one girl made me feel like I was 5 for the whole period, another stranger came across the stage after class to see what my problem was). I am serious when I say she was God send.

3. I went to take a test (I know weird that a test made the highlight reel) and the testing center was locked. I guess they close earlier than I thought on Monday. I went in and talked to my professor--Sister Harris, the one that can scare mature adults. She was totally nice and chill.

4. While I was sitting in the office taking my test (which consequently I didn't do amazing on--I blame it on being frazzled, surely it wasn't my lack of preparation) and Brother Parson came in and handed me a box of PrismaColor colored pencils. He asked if it was mine and I was super excited. You see that was $75 worth of colored pencils. They disappeared between April and September. I was happy to see them again...now if only their corresponding $130 markers would resurface as well...

5. While I was walking home, it rained. And I love the rain.

6. I gave my presentation today on HVAC, electricity, plumbing, security...blah blah blah... it was an hour long. But at the end--I gave out popsicles. I think that made me happier than it did any of the ones in the class. I am kind of hoping Sister Harris didn't notice that I forgot to make a handout. You see I typically hate handouts (which disqualifies me for a young women's teacher) so I usually forget about them. Hmm...

7. Our devotional speaker today was really good--he is from Brazil but his accent sounded like Bartok from Anastasia.

8. I ran into Bre yesterday, she and my friend Crutchie (Ryan) from the MATS trip are engaged! I am really excited for them. A couple of us are going for Jamba tonight!

10. It is raining right now. Hard. I heard a couple really good cracks of thunder! I like thunder even better than rain!
