ode to Puff

Puff doesn't read this blog. She doesn't know it exists. Maybe I should share it with her. I just need the world to know she is fantastic. I have never met a person that knows Puff and doesn't love her, not just like her, but love her.

I am one of those people. And I got to spend part of the weekend with her.

Lucky me.

Speechless

I have been crafting this blog post in my mind. There are so many things to share. And I am not sure how to approach it.

I considered writing a letter:

Dear 6'7" country music lover,

With stats like that I knew from the get-go things would fun. Our date a couple of weeks ago was fun. It took you a little while to open up, and then you did. It was cool. When the four of us on that date *  determined we wanted to go to a BYU game together, we talked about getting tickets; I mentioned I had planned to pick up some in the morning-before you and your best friend said you wanted to come-you said I should get the tickets now. I got four tickets. When the other two backed out, our date was still on. Well... I guess I assumed it was a date, I never really asked you and you never really asked me, we just made plans for the two of us to go together.

I asked you to bring a friend because the guy Karalee was going to bring couldn't make it. You said your cousin would love to. Awesome. Pardon our immaturity--or realism, prior to the date we started to make jokes about what her date would be like. Imagine our surprise when you mentioned moments before your cousin's arrival that he was a she. When you left to go give her her ticket Karalee jokingly said, "Wouldn't it be funny if he really brought a date, but called her his cousin so she could still get the ticket?" That would be funny**

The letter avenue wasn't really working. I wasn't sure how to express how funny it was to me that he paid very little attention to me during the game and at half time opened up his wallet to get his "cousin" some money for snacks-- how funny it was that my date had another date. After he opened up his wallet and she turned to leave he looked over and asked me if I wanted a water or something. I passed. I can't really illustrate how hard Karalee and I were laughing at the site of these two may-or-may-not-be-cousins.

Instead of the letter I thought about sharing my ideals of a good date:

Very cute
Loves BYU
Stands up for what's right***
Considerate
Friendly-even if a little shy

Its too bad Karalee found him first.

And that he is five.

Oh Jacob, you will be a lady killer. He shared his sour patch kids with Karalee. What  a guy!

I could also share how the man who gave me the most attention last night was a married man behind me. Or I could recall how Karalee and I sang the fight song on my coworker's voicemail. And then I filled his Facebook wall with Jimmer clips and articles. These were things I could do to share what an awesome night it was.

BUT: I finally settled on a picture story board:

This was when I realized Karalee was a better date than....

This is when I tried to include the cousins.

This was the "best night of my life."

This was us meeting Sara's date before I took her and he left.

This is me remembering I should never go to one of these without my bestie.

And this a really hard angle to photograph... and yes it is the back of my legs. The game was a little brutal. Or the benches were...

My "date" sent me a post date text telling me how great it was and how he had such a fun time. So did I, I am just not sure we had it together....

*(okay once the date-napping-roommate disappeared there were four)
** hmmm... didn't know how funny...
***ask Karalee about her sportsmanship lesson or read about it.

Good things

So I am sitting in a meeting that has been pointless for the past two hours. I can't leave though, so I am writing this.

Life is great. This weekend was kind of hilarious. Katie, Julie and I saw RED. It was pretty funny. We snuck in candy, and had a manicure while we were waiting. Good times. We had a camera crew in our Sunday School class yesterday. Our bishop gave the lesson and it was hilarious. Of course it was on dating, and the kid behind me suggested taking a girl to feed the ducks. I laughed so hard inside. Coach J used to always say, "boys don't just want to hold your hand and feed the ducks." I kept my comments to myself; no one there would have appreciated it.

I still have a crush on the handsome, tall, BYUI man in my ward. Wish me luck :D
(Les, I just wrote handsome before tall... that is saying something)

I have made friends with some cool people in my ward. It is kind of fun to be the new girl in a ward that doesn't have the dynamic change of a BYU/BYUI ward.
